Renault has updated the design of the Clio, showcasing a much bolder look that captures the brand’s aim to build more modern, distinctive and most importantly, sustainable vehicles. With an enlarged chequered grille, a sharper rear, and the new Esprit Alpine trim, first offered on the Renault AUSTRAL SUV, the Renault CLIO Hybrid is brought into line with Renault’s evolving persona. As stated by Renault themselves, ‘The Esprit Alpine trim is sporty and classy inside and out, and is the version that best encapsulates the CLIO’s new era.’

An element that Renault was keen to report when releasing the new CLIO hybrid, is that despite a physically bigger appearance, the new CLIO has the same dimensions as the car it replaces, coming in at 4,053 mm in length, 1,798 mm in width and 1,439 mm in height. The rear has a more angular bumper which showcases the brand’s new, simplified 2D logo, as well as redesigned brake lights.

In addition to this, the interior also remains largely unchanged, with small changes entailing a new 10-inch edgeless instrument display, and sustainable changes, such as offering more soft-touch materials around the dashboard and doors – refusing to offer any leather trims, as they have done previously.

Performance

The hatchback is now sold with the 143bhp E-Tech powertrain, combining a 1.6 litre engine with two electric motors, allowing the customer to drive more than 1,000 km in total on two full tanks . This twin fuel system improves performance whilst reducing consumption and CO2 emissions – presenting 8% less CO2 than a comparable petrol-only engine. Cleverly, the new CLIO is able to cut city consumption by 40%, compared to a petrol motor, through giving the customer the ability to use the electric motor 80% of the time.

Tech control

Inside the Renault CLIO hybrid is an array of applications to aid your driving experience. With a wireless smartphone connection, the Renault CLIO hybrid creates a gateway to navigation, infotainment, and proactive maintenance. Additionally, the new model has 20 advanced driver systems, including active driver assist, an active emergency braking system, with cyclist and pedestrian sensors, and a 360-degree camera. Not only is the tech control impressive, but it also ranks the new CLIO among the safest cars in its category.

Some new amenities that have been added to the Renault CLIO hybrid include automatic air conditioning, a hands-free car key and a wireless smartphone charger. In addition to these amenities, the new Renault CLIO also has MULTI-SENSE technology that allows the driver to adjust light settings on the dashboard and centre console, allowing a customisable driving experience.
