A pupil from St Mary’s Church of England Primary School in Mucklestone has been awarded first prize in a drawing competition for local school children. Edward, aged 8 was selected as the overall winner from dozens of entrants in a competition organised by Holdcroft Volvo in Stoke-on-Trent.
The competition asked pupils to pick up a pencil and portray a design for a Volvo V40. One of Volvo’s focuses is the environment and their commitment to re-thinking sustainability. This goes beyond their operations and their cars, and into society. Therefore, Holdcroft Volvo wanted the pupils to reflect this through their drawings where they were asked to create environmetal themed designs and demonstrate their artistic skills, colour identification and imagination.
Edward also won a remote-controlled toy car and a copy of Volvo’s own book “The Day the Ocean Went Away” which was presented to him by Qashem Miah, General Manager of Holdcroft Volvo and Leanna Harper, Marketing Assistant.
Qashem Miah, General Manager of Holdcroft Volvo said “Competitions such as this boost the curriculum and inspire the children’s imaginations. We were very impressed with Edward’s design and we look forward to working with the school in the future to help identify the important of the supporting the environment not only for our dealership and Volvo but for the school syllabus.”
Leanna Harper, Marketing Assistant said: “A huge congratulations to Edward! We were really impressed by the standard of drawing and creativity demonstrated by all the entries.
