The perfect companion for a long journey, the XC40 excelled in all areas on its trip to Snowdonia.

You may think that being the smaller and least expensive of the XC range that this Volvo couldn’t keep up with it’s much larger brothers, however this car packs a punch. As soon as you jump into the XC40 you feel as though you’ve jumped in the tardis. It’s roomy, spacious and has great visibility out of the car. One thing that’s important for me (being a rather tall guy) is headroom and legroom so one of the best features was the electric seat adjustments. This allowed me to configure the seat in pretty much any way I wanted and made the journey exceptionally comfortable. Exactly what you need for the long journey ahead.

Moving on to the ride and it was surprisingly nifty. It had great acceleration and a fun drive, it was quick off the mark, rolled beautifully with the bends and took little bumps and road imperfections like they weren’t even there. We rigged the back of this car with cameras to film the car behind and the footage came out as smooth as you could hope. It’s like the roads of Snowdonia were made for this car.

Lastly, let's talk about the looks. It’s a great looking car and you would check twice if you saw it rolling down your street. It has a powerful look at the front with nice ridges and a somewhat boxy design that give it a look of class and grandeur on the road. The Blacked out grille as opposed to the older shiny front adds to the modern look of this car and gives it that extra feel of a new luxury car.

All in all the Volvo XC40 performed excellently in all areas, Great looking, comfortable ride and a pleasurable experience from beginning to end. As a first time Volvo driver this car opened my eyes to the world of Volvo, they are evolving, and you should get behind the wheel of a Volvo soon.
