It has been confirmed! Europe's most affordable electric vehicle, the Dacia Spring, is coming to the UK in 2024.

In keeping with their durable reputation, it has been said that the UK will release an all-new version of the Dacia Spring that is enhanced by several improvements to its design and equipment that will blend value, efficiency, and practicality.

As it currently stands, the Dacia Spring is a low-cost electric car with a smart looking exterior. At the front it displays a similar sleek headlight design to the Dacia Sandero, with the main beams integrated into the lower bumper. There is also black plastic cladding down the side, and a new logo covering the charge port. The rear bumper of the Spring also displays more black cladding, as well as some small round tail lights, and a neat boot spoiler. The Spring has a slightly heightened look, giving it a more rugged appearance and increasing visibility for the driver.

Although it has been stated that the UK version of the Dacia Spring will not be sold in its current form, and will undertake a mid-life facelift to boost its appeal and bring it more up to date with the rest of the Dacia line-up, it will not stray too far from the ethos of the current car. It is highly likely that the Dacia Spring will remain as a small SUV with heightened and upright proportions, but be updated to match Dacia’s full-sized line-up by gaining new light signatures, wheel designs, colour options, and trim elements.

The Dacia Spring

Simplicity is what the design of the Dacia Spring can be summarised as – everything is built to be functional and practical. Each Dacia Spring comes equipped with Bluetooth phone connectivity, air conditioning, electric front windows, and a speed limiter. Mid-spec cars even get a 7.0-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a reversing camera. An interior refresh has also been hinted at, with new technological features and materials among the possibilities of the UK version.

The Spring has already sold 12,000 units in Europe since its 2021 launch - with 93% of that figure being new to the EV market. The firm sales Vice President, Xavier Martinet stated, “I’m confident that the Spring will be as popular in the UK as it has proved throughout the rest of Europe.”
