Nissan has unveiled the next generation of its e-POWER technology, debuting in the British-built Qashqai crossover from September 2025. This advanced hybrid system delivers the feel of an EV - smooth, quiet, and responsive driving - without the need to plug in.
Why It Matters:
- Best-in-segment fuel efficiency: 62 mpg (WLTP)
- Lower emissions: 102g/km CO₂, down 12% from before
- Impressive range: Up to 745 miles on a full tank
- EV-like refinement: Cabin noise reduced by 5.6 dB
- Boosted performance: +10kW in Sport Mode, total 151kW output
Unlike traditional hybrids, e-POWER uses a petrol engine solely to generate electricity for the wheels and battery. There's no gearbox, just instant acceleration and smooth driving like a full EV—plus regenerative braking to maximize efficiency.
The new 5-in-1 modular powertrain integrates motor, generator, and inverter into a more compact, quieter package. Thanks to an all-new 1.5L turbo engine with 42% thermal efficiency and lower friction, drivers will also enjoy 16% better real-world fuel economy.
Extra Perks:
- 12,000-mile service intervals (up from 9,000)
- Google built-in infotainment with Maps, Assistant, and Play Store
- Enhanced ProPILOT driver assistance for smarter, safer driving
This is Nissan’s clearest step yet toward electrified mobility—giving drivers the experience of EV driving without the hurdles of range anxiety or charging infrastructure.
Stay tuned for more as the Qashqai with new e-POWER hits European roads in September 2025.
