Earlier this year, MG teased the MG4, a fully electric hatchback measuring 4.3m in length, with a bold new design which was hidden at that point under a sheet, since then, MG have released new photos which shows the MG4’s striking design.
At the front, it features a seamless front end without a grille, which is sculpted to be aerodynamic, similarly to the recently updated MG5. On the side, the body features more sharp lines and a sculpted physique which helps to make the MG4 more stylish and distinctive.
At the back, the MG4 gets a full width LED light bar, with a sporty rear spoiler that seamlessly integrates to the roofline. The MG4 features a number of intricate details such as the alloy wheels and side skirts which ultimately help to make the MG4 incredibly distinctive and exciting.
Inside, the MG4 features a similar design to the MG5, with a freestanding digital driver display, and a freestanding infotainment display which is large and really impressive. The MG4 has a clean and premium look interior, with the lines from the climate vents continuing across the dash, and the floating centre console all helping to make the interior an incredibly comfortable and contemporary place to be.
This new model features a new platform that will underpin all their new models going forward. It is designed for a wide array of vehicles from SUVs to sports cars, making it suitable for vehicles with a wheelbase of between 2,650 and 3,100mm. MG have also said that the integrated battery structure has a height of only 110mm, which means that there is more space for passengers, and excellent performance. This new platform also maximises battery efficiency, with efforts to reduce weight, whilst being incredibly versatile, in order to satisfy a wide range of customers.
The MG4 will initially be available in two battery capacities, 51kWh and 64kWh which means that it will be capable of travelling between 218 miles and 281 miles on a single charge. It also comes equipped with new technology to be able to benefit from over the air software updates, to extend the longevity of this product.
David Allison, Head of Product & Planning at MG Motor UK, said: “The MG4 EV is a key part of the next phase of growth for MG. Our new MSP architecture will enable us to offer multiple options for the rapidly expanding UK electric car market, with all choices reinforcing our reputation for outstanding design, market-leading technology, and excellent value for money.”
The announcement of this exciting new model marks the next step for MG following the success of its existing range of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, helping MG to grow by 83% in the first five months of 2022, in a market that has declined by 8.7% during the same period.
