The TUCSON is available in a range of powertrains including petrol, Mild Hybrid, Self-Charging Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid, which means that if you are in the market for an SUV with a hybrid powertrain, there is no starting point more obvious than the TUCSON. EcoCar found that the TUCSON’s  Self-Charging Hybrid powertrain was their favourite, with its electric motor and battery setup helping to achieve 50mpg without the need to be plugged in. They also praised the TUCSON’s family car credentials, thanks to its large 616-litre boot, and the amount of space in the back for adults. All of this, and the TUCSON’s iconic styling helped it bag not only the Best Hybrid Medium SUV, but also Hybrid of the Year!

Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 has already proven itself with the sheer amount of awards that it has won so far, including the World Car of the Year Award and World Electric Car of the Year Award. This makes it no surprise that it was recognised by EcoCar, winning Best Electric Crossover. Hyundai has already demonstrated their commitment to electrification through the IONIQ and KONA Electric, so the IONIQ 5 was praised heavily for carrying this on, and leading the way. The judges particularly liked the jaw dropping retro-futuristic design, combined with excellent technology and 300 mile range. This combined with an incredibly spacious interior, thanks to being based on a EV only platform, allowing for better integration of the batteries, without intruding on the cabin space.
