Much like the original R5 back in its day, it is a practical car with a modern twist: silent, high-tech, and environmentally friendly! This new entry level electric vehicle (EV) will be offered with a 52 kWh battery from launch, boasting 248 miles of range, costing around £20,000.

It is clear that the new R5 has taken inspiration from the classic Renault 5 from the 1970’s, displaying a boxy shape with a modern, futuristic twist.
The new Renault 5 boasts more rugged wheel arches, a streamlined roof profile, a boxier bodywork, sleek headlights, and square LED daytime running lights in the lower bumper that are inspired by aeronautics.
On the new R5 the classic, iconic Renault details have been enhanced. Discrete LED lights power the logo and impressive lighting signature. Furthermore, the soft-top roof highlights a determination to use innovative materials – at least 22% of the R5 is made up of recycled materials and over 85% of the R5 is recyclable. The rear of the R5 is very simple, with hidden door handles and a subtle rear spoiler. The new 5 logo has a cool, retro vibe that adorns the boot that is a nod to its 70s predecessor.
The rear door handles are hidden within the window frames, similar to the Renault Clio. There is also a smart red trim detail running from the wing mirrors up and around the roof.

Whilst we only have an interior prototype of the Renault 5’s interior, the headline feature is a free-standing glass infotainment display that showcases instrument graphics at your eye-line – similar to a massive head-up display.
The front-seat headrests also have illuminated rings on each side, suggesting there could be some form of built in speakers included.

The Renault 5 features bidirectional charging, meaning that the energy stored in the R5’s battery can be used to power other devices!
The R5 will also come equipped with Reno – the official Renault avatar that can be used to optimise your journeys and experience in the Renault 5.
The new Renault 5 is set to go on sale very soon after its Geneva Motor Show debut in February 2024. Customers who are willing to pay £150 can sign up to a pre-order programme so they can receive an R Pass and order their Renault 5 before anyone else, and be amongst the first to take delivery! The first Renault 5 models are due to arrive in the UK in early 2025.
