Lidar and Safe Space Technology

The advanced standard exterior sensor set with radars, cameras and ultrasonic sensors is in Volvo EX90 complemented with a lidar that continuously scans the environment in front of the car, enabling an accurate and high-precision estimate of the shape and size of objects in three-dimensional understanding of the surroundings. By combining the understanding of the outside environment with understanding the state of the driver, we can detect when the driver needs extra support and put in place countermeasures to preserve the safety margins.

Pilot Assist - enhanced driver assistance

The Volvo EX90 enhanced driver assistance makes your journey smoother and more relaxing. The car can help keep an eye on the traffic and lane markings and support you by adapting your speed and distances given the current driving conditions. It can provide speed control in steep curves and steering support while changing lanes. If the car detects any sign of the driver being unresponsive it can brake the car to a standstill within the lane.

Question time…

Can I order the EX90 online?

Yes, Cash and Subscription orders can be placed online. Please note that pricing is indicative and may may be subject to changes prior to delivery of the car due to factors beyond our control such as increased taxes, fees, interest rates etc. You will be notified of any changes and can cancel any time before delivery.

Which is the fastest way to charge my fully electric Volvo EX90 on long journeys?

You will find the fastest charging at a DC fast-charging station along the route. To charge as fast as possible, we recommend you to limit the car's charging level to 80 per cent. This helps keep your charging times short because the last 20 per cent of charging takes the longest time. So charging the battery from 10 to 80 per cent at a 250kW DC fast-charger can be less than 30 minutes.

* But if needed to reach your destination or the next charging station, you can choose to charge the battery up to 100 per cent using the settings in the car’s centre display.

* Charging times may vary and are dependent on factors such as outdoor temperature, current battery temperature, charging equipment, battery condition and car condition.

How can I be sure that the car battery has been produced in an environmentally and socially responsible way?

Volvo Cars is committed to full traceability. We want our customers to feel confident that they are driving a Volvo where the battery’s raw material has been sourced responsibly. The introduction of blockchain technology significantly boosts traceability within our cobalt supply chain. Blockchain, in conjunction with inspection on mining sites, GPS tracking, entry and exit scanning, verified logistics providers, facial recognition, ID checks, and time tracking, allows material traceability from the mine to the car factory.

We work closely with our suppliers to ensure sustainability of our products and services. We are committed to the responsible sourcing of minerals and metals, and fully support the OECD Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-affected and High-risk Areas.

Sustainability performance is key for us when assessing and selecting suppliers. We monitor the performance of existing suppliers and follow up with third party audits. We also require from our battery suppliers to minimise carbon emissions during the production, including usage of renewable energy. All our suppliers must agree to the Volvo Cars' Code of Conduct for Business Partners, which includes assessment of human rights and labour laws.
