The proposed Limited Edition Megane R26.R Renaultsport is due to go on sale in October 2008. Priced at £22,880 this 2 seater has been stripped back with the removal of non-essential accessories such as radio, front fog lamps, passenger airbag, rear seats and most of the soundproofing. Add to this the replacement of some metal components with lighter carbon fibre units the overall weight reduction is a massive 123kg (19.2 stone in imperial).
This weight reduction allows the 230bhp 2.0 litre engine to take the car to 62mph is just 6.0 seconds.
Add to this distinctive styling touches and the fact that only 230 units are destined for Britain, it really will be an enthusiasts icon.
