Isuzu Rodeo from Lands' End to John O'Groats
Holdcroft Isuzu's Dave Brennan has recently helped raise more than £6,000 for the charity, Cancer Research.
David's connection with Cancer Research goes back a number of years from when a family friend's father sadly died of cancer.
His first fund raising challenge was to do the Great North Run in 2005 and the latest was 'The Long Day Out' Lands' End to John O'Groats motorbike ride where he organised and drove the Isuzu Rodeo support vehicle.
Dave said that the initial drive to Scotland with the riders and their equipment was superb and everybody was excited about the attempt to cover the journey in the allocated 24 hours. Upon their arrival at John O'Groats they stayed in a hotel where the service was great and the evening entertainment consisted of a local chap celebrating his stag night adding to the party atmosphere. Dave said the 'bloke had stamina...I went to bed ready for an early start and all I could hear was him belting out Rhinestone Cowboy with his friends!'
After 4.45am start the motorcyles, which were kindly supplied by Honda UK, ran faultlessly as did the Isuzu Rodeo loaned by Isuzu via Daves dealership, Holdcroft Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, and after a marathon 15 hours 40 minute, 840 mile journey the team arrived safely at Lands' End.
Dave, 47 today, said 'I was elated that we'd done it' and after a celebration drink and a good nights sleep was ready to drive back up to Stoke-on-Trent the next day. In all the Isuzu covered a staggering 1800+ miles in the 3 days and 'never missed a beat'.
