Honda Jazz Wins Japanese COTY Award
Honda's redesigned Fit subcompact has won the coveted Japanese Car of the Year award, beating finalists which included the long awaited Nissan's Skyline and the superb new Subaru Impreza.
The second-generation Fit, called the Jazz in the UK market, garnered more than 20,000 orders in the first two weeks since it went on sale on October 26th 2007. Honda, Japan's second-biggest car maker, has said it aimed to sell an average of 12,000 Fits a month in the domestic market.
The annual award is decided by a sixty strong panel consisting primarily of automotive journalists and went to Toyota's Lexus LS sedan last year. Honda has won five of the last 10 Car of the Year awards, including one for the first-generation Fit in 2001.
