Celebrations as 1 millionth British Honda Civic Built

Mike Greenhough of Holdcroft Honda has reported that Honda of the UK Manufacturing Ltd (HUM) has reached a major milestone with the production of the millionth Swindon-built Civic.

The Honda plant based in Swindon, Wiltshire began production of the Civic on September 19, 1994. In its first year just over 6,500 were built there. This year, the £1.38bn factory will produce nearly 137,000 Civics.

The one-millionth Civic built was a stunning Milano Red UK-spec Type R powered by the companies legendary 2.0i-VTEC. The car rolled of the assembly line on Friday 9th of November 2007.

David Hodgetts, HUM director, said: 'We are the only Honda plant in the world manufacturing the Civic 5-door and 3-door models and are extremely proud of the fact there are one million happy customers driving Swindon-built Civics.'
